Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI)

About PAMETI

Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (PAMETI), situated at PAU Campus, Ludhiana has played a key role in capacity building of extension workers hailing from agriculture and allied sectors in the field of agricultural management and extension since 2000.

PAMETI, Ludhiana got registered under Societies Act, 1860 in March, 2000 as a part of the “Innovation in Technology Dissemination (ITD)” component under National Agricultural Technology Project (NATP) funded by World Bank. This project was implemented in the seven states of the country on pilot basis. The states concerned were Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand. Each state was sanctioned one State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (SAMETI). In case of Punjab, it is popularly known as PAMETI, by replacing the word "State" with "Punjab".

PAMETI started functioning on December 6, 2000. Previously, the institute was running under the “Support to State Extension Programs for Extension Reforms (ATMA)” Scheme till March, 2014. During the Financial year 2014-15, the Scheme was converted to Sub-Mission on Agricultural Extension (SMAE) which is a part of National Mission on Agricultural Extension & Technology (NMAET). Afterwards, from the financial year 2017-18 onwards, SMAE had been subsumed as sub-scheme of Umbrella Scheme- Green Revolution-KrishonnatiYojana. Currently, the institute is running based on the guidelines of this scheme.
